Is the format of the test tiles limited to the traditional look? Since I am making non-traditional ceramics, can the test tiles also be a non-traditional test tiles. The test piece itself is beautiful enough to be a stand-alone piece, but a single test tiles is not powerful enough. I would like to take the next step and try to use simple shapes to complement the complexity and variety of the test tiles. For example, a square ceramic piece, so that the test piece exists as a painting. Thinking further, I could add some simple three-dimensional structures or depressions to the base of the test tiles to control the direction of the flow of the ceramic. These depressions I wanted to have a natural rounded form. The size and curvature of the stones I picked up at the beach were perfect for extruding the recesses. So I was thinking about the possibility of using these stones to make flutes.
